The E-mail Center is divided into governmental branches. Click below on the branch you want to contact:The Whitehouse; the Congress; Congressional committees and subcommittees, District and State senate and delegates; District, Maryland, and Virginia county/city councils.
To send an e-mail, click on one of the underlined names and a "mail to" form will come up. Enter the subject of your letter and fill in the text you want. Then hit the SEND button. If you want to send a copy to other elected members of Congress, you can click here to go to a Senate directory to look up a senator's email address. The House side is more difficult as many members operate with individual websites. Many of them use the format: Rep. (lastname)@mail.house.gov. Also you can click here to go to a House directory. It's a place to start. If you want to send copies to more than one person, separate the e-mail addresses with a comma.

We somethimes forget that our elected state representatives can be a help with our concerns. Do not hesitate to contact them too. The names listed in the table below are the officials who represent the people near National and Dulles Airports and their flight paths. Note that not all representatives have e-mail capability. Telephone numbers are provided for those who do not.
Local county and city council members should also be contacted. Some are in fact very active on the issue of aircraft noise and pollution. Listed in the tables below are the council members for Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties, MD, Arlington, Fairfax, and Loudon Counties, VA, and the cities of Alexandria and District of Columbia.Note that some names do not have direct e-mail addresses. You will have to call the listed telephone numbers or go to that individual's website and use its contact page.

The regular letter is the most popular choice of communication with a congressional office. If you decide to write a letter via e-mail, the list of helpful suggestions below will improve the effectiveness of the letter:
1. Your purpose for writing should be stated in the first paragraph of the letter. If your letter pertains to a specific piece of legislation, identify it accordingly,
e.g., House bill: H. R.____, Senate bill: S.____.
2. Be courteous, to the point, and include key information, using examples to support your position.
3. Address only one issue in each letter; and, if possible, keep the letter to one page.
4. Give your name and snail mail address.
